Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)
Provides protection if a plan member incurs either 1) a loss, or 2) loss of use of: life, limb, sight, hearing, and/or speech due to an accidental injury. This benefit pays double the benefit for plan members who die because of an accident.
Coverage is generally based on a flat amount (e.g. $50,000) and can be provided on a 24-hour or non-occupational basis. 24-hour coverage is more common and covers accidents that occur both on and off the job.
